Limitation

There are centain limitations of filming. Vehicle panels have many difficult contours and shapes. They vary from vehicle model to model. Filming is a slow manual process where using heat treatment the film is given shape of the body.

  • Filming can't be carried out on non-painted surfaces like rubber, plastic, steel and chrome.
  • Filming can't be carried out on painted but soft surface.
  • Filming only on surfaces visible from outside.
  • Film can't be put on small raised designs or small dips.
  • Film can't be put on door handles and side mirrors of some cars.

Paint Safe

Body films can be put on company orginal painted surface.

  • If the paint is of good quality, such as original company paint or paint done at authorized service centres with proper curing, normally it does not come off while removing the film.
  • In India, most small paint shops do not use good quality paint, do not follow proper painting and do not oven cure. Since this paint is losely held, it may come off at the time of removing film.

Is there any real risk?

In usual circumstances there is no need to remove film unless the vehicle gets damaged and requires denting / painting. Since that surface anyhow requires repainting, removal of paint at the time of film removal should not make a difference. Thus there is no real risk.

Joints/Cuts

Vehicle panels have many difficult contours and shapes. They vary from vehicle model to model. Occasionally due to technical reasons some cuts have to be given. Normally they are not visible. The following pictures show typical joints/cuts.

Post-Installation Symptoms

Vehicle panels have many difficult contours and shapes. They vary from vehicle model to model. Occasionally due to technical reasons some cuts have to be given. Normally they are not visible. The following pictures show typical joints/cuts.

  • Hazy Patches : This is VERY NORMAL and is not installation defect. This is reflection of moisture. This automatically disappears and the shine of surface starts increasing as film starts drying. It takes 3-5 days of good drying under sun for maximum gloss to come.
  • Bubbles : Some bubbles may appear either immediately after filming or after few days. This is VERY NORMAL and is not installation defect. Normally they slowly disappear on drying. Remaining bubbles are taken out by puncturing them.
  • Edges coming off : On drying and film tends to shift little bit. This may cause some edges coming off. This is VERY NORMAL and is not installation defect. This is fixed either by pressing them or my cutting off raised portion.
  • Stretch Marks : Stretch marks are hazy lines noticeable only if seen carefully. All paint protection films are stretched and pasted on car body. But, shieldF Armor film has very low stretch marks. During filming and just after filming these marks are slightly visible on horizantal surface especially on dark color cars. This is VERY NORMAL and is not installation defect. But, shieldF film stretch marks slowly disappear after vehicle is exposed to strong sun heat for 5-10 days.
